Performance Evaluation Study for the Detection of SARS-CoV-2 in Asymptomatic Patients by University of Birmingham Shows 99.95% Accuracy

A limit of detection test and a real world validation test was conducted on the BHM® COVID-19 Antigen Rapid Test.

Birmingham Biotech’s BHM® COVID-19 Antigen Rapid Test performs to a standard whereby it can detect a viral load of 50 PFU/ml (equivalent to an ORF1ab Ct of 31.9 and N1 Ct of 32.2); this is more sensitive than competitor devices (manufacturers F, O and I, also trialled in the University of Birmingham lab) which could detect a viral load of 100 PFU/ml.

The device showed an accuracy of 99.95% and also maintained temporal stability, with no change in the LFD up to 48 hours post hybridisation.
